Hi, guys! I just came back from Pulau Tioman, Malaysia. My DSC P1 is gone. The Sony Marine P1 housing was found leaking at the power on/off switch. I did my water leak check on suface in a bath tub before going down for my 1st dive at Deep Wreck.
After 15m of descenting, I found water leaking into the housing, I couldn't switch on or off on the camera. The camera was short circuited.
Now I need help!!! Which camera is better choice for my next purchase? I'm looking Olympus, Cannon & Nikon. No more Sony. Please advise.
Thanks.
Doubt that the camera is at fault. UW photography is expensive. Get a quality housing or stay in the pool. An Ikelite or equivlent.
Sounds as if you are against buying another Sony based on the housing. While I can't speak to the quality of a Sony housing, my DSC-S85 works great with an Ikelite housing. For the cost of replacing your camera and all the associated accessories, you could have easily be in a higher quality housing and hopefully not in the situation you're in now.
