Of note: "For air travelers, the department would also prohibit air passengers from keeping extra alkaline or rechargeable nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) batteries in their checked-in luggage. Those batteries are acceptable if they are inside the devices. They are also permitted inside or outside devices if stored in carry-on luggage."
I carry quite a few AA NiMH batteries (in plastic carry containers) for my Z-240s and Fix LED light. It would really suck to have to carry all of them in my carry-on . . .
I checked the government notice and it written a bit obtusely. Will be interesting to see what it really means.

Interesting to see what happens with this. I have been told before at screening that I could not have my batteries in my carry on and that they could not be in the equipment either - had to be in my checked luggage. I was able to on these occassions talk my way into keeping them with me since my checked baggage had already gone on. We are at the meercy of whoever is working that day. Smile and play nice
I wish they would settle on something.

Pam I believe your screener has it backwards. The reg states that you can carry your batteries in your equipment and spares must be sealed correctly and in your carry on. Check out the Battery thread from Jan 08. http://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?showt...22191&st=20

Pam has a point though. It might be a wise idea to carry a copy of the regulations with you in case you run into that rogue agent.
