Tokina 10-17 lens

  1. I was testing this lens last Sunday with the Zen 100 mm dome. On board the boat was a friend of mine who is a professor of underwater photography.

He asked if I had noticed a reflection to the side with this lens. He had noticed this and felt it was due to the cut out on the built in sun shade on the lens. He had gotten some black material at a craft shop and used it to fill in the cut out on the lenses sun shade. He felt that this solved the problem.

Has anyone else noticed this reflection with the Tokina 10-17 lens? If so have they tried this solution?

  2. No problems with mine and the Subal FE-DP2. I think this has come up before though. Worth a search.....

I get it on the Hugyfot dome but not on the Sea & Sea optical port.

  4. I have used it in the 7 inch glass sea & sea coated dome and the image is flawless. I have also used the 10-17 with the 6 inch and 8 inch aquatica domes with no problems.

  5. I get it sometimes - shows up as a partial ring in the photos along the bottom 2/3rds of the dome. I think it may be the gold line and lettering on the top of the lens itself, so I'm going to try blacking that out with a marker to see if that works...
