The Story Beyond the Still - a contest by Vimeo and Canon

  1. Sorry for posting this a bit late for the first installment but I had a bit of a large plate this week, here's an interesting contesting which is based on an older video series that had different filmmakers continue a story line, only this one is developed for HDSLR in mind (click the link for more details):

    THE STORY BEYOND THE STILL

Introducing the first user-generated HD Video Contest where photographers become filmmakers, and we all see beyond the still. To kick off the contest, Canon asked photographer, Vincent Laforet, to interpret what story lives beyond this still and to tell that story with the new Canon EOS 7D. His will be the first chapter of seven, each ending with a still photograph for the next aspiring filmmaker to interpret. Posing the question to everyone, what do you see beyond the still?

    Rules Hightlights:

    1. All film entries must be shot in HD (720p or higher) and be between 2-4 minutes in length.

    2. All film entries must begin with the still image that concludes Vincent Laforet’s opening chapter, which must then be recreated or reinterpreted to begin your film entry. All film entries must also end on a still image of your own.

    3. All identifiable persons appearing in your film must sign a release (available here) before submission. Semi-Finalists will be contacted and given a short timeframe to submit all releases to Vimeo to maintain eligibility.

    4. No third party music or third party brands should be featured within your film.

    5. Open to US RESIDENTS only who are over the age of majority in their State of residence at the time of entry.

    6. All entries are subject to the Official Rules and Vimeo.com Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Please read these documents thoroughly!

    7. Only US entries are allowed.
