  1. Just for fun check them out on Dale's Flickr page. I really like the abstract effect on the dawn light.

    Take a look at 072.

    Cheers,

    Steve

It's scary to me that people can now feel safe swimming in surf at dawn/dusk in CA. Shows how few sharks are left :( Try that in South Africa is asking for trouble.

  4. LOL, That has to get the DIY gold medal. :(

  5. Yes, Dale has some nice surf images, but often uses dead fish and tries to play them off as real live fish. For example, this series of a supposed "shark attack" published on Surfline.com: http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/photogra...lmness_40419/1/ Here is what actually happened: http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/dale-kob...k-photos_41220/ Even on a photo like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/dalekobetich/...157623488870882 it is clear on close inspection that the fish is not alive.

Dale's actions are making all water photographers lose credibility and should not be encouraged.

  6. Thanks for the heads up Garrett. Hard to believe that someone thought that it would be a good idea to buy a dead shark, shoot it as alive then blatantly lie about for an article. Just very sad.

    Hi Steve,

I agree, they are fascinating images. Fantastic over-unders even if the foreground is only a sandy bottom..........beautiful topside lighting, I wish i could achieve the same.

Garrett, in Ireland we have a special saying for someone who buys sharks/shark related produce. We say "you fuckin dick-head" or "wanker". Please excuse my language dont want to offend anybody.

Dale should no longer get recognition based on his acts of stupidity.

    Big love to all,

    Dave.

  8. Very artistic images, although not sure about the dead shark stuff, pretty lousy if you ask me.

  9. Absolutely stunning images!

  10. yah he's got some cool wave shots, but i got no respect for this guy whatsoever. faking shark 'attack' photos like that is wrong on so many levels. not to mention perpetuating the false concept of the evil shark out to get you as soon as you hop in the water. uw photogs like us are teh ones dispelling these myths to the average joe. its also condoning killing sharks which we all know is just plain wrong today, they're all being slaughtered. and last but not least, destroys any sort of credibility this guy ever had in the first place. he would certainly never get work as a journalist (where i started out, and a mandate i hold to today) after a stunt like that.

while his other pics look cool, i just can't trust them at all. shame.

  11. this guys a douche.. later on in the article it also mentions him buying live crabs and so he can :release: them ( for photos)

In my opinion he goes too far.
