I have a Sea&Sea DX-1G. The view box for the LCD is gray and often too dark for me to see clearly. I've lightened up the lighting on the camera display and put a rubber shield that comes with the housing but it only darkens more. Should I search for a clear acrylic housing, does Ikelite make one for this model?

I have shot the DX-1G & DX-2G and have never had an issue like this unless there is so much ambient light that it makes the LCD itself hard to see.
Have you tried changing the LCD brightness settings on the camera?
You could try a LCD Hood/Magnifier and see if that helps. Here is a link to the one I picked up for the DX-1G a while back.... http://www.divervision.com/catalog/product...products_id=820

There is no other housing for this camera.
I wonder if your problem is the camera darkening the LCD to try to indicate underexposure?
I've seen many cameras doing this, though it is a totally broken concept, when you depend on the LCD for composing, and when you are shooting with flash, which will bring up the exposure to a good level...

Are you shooting in 'Manual' mode if so this camera (and others) have an issue when shooting in manual and low ambient light. Basically the screen is very dark until that split second before you release (after focusing) - the only thing you can do is use 'Aperture' mode ('A') to take your photos. I haven't heard of any fix for this either.

I am having the same problem with my Sea&Sea dx=1g. I'm shooting in shallow streams in bright lighting. I think I'll try that magnifyer that might just do the trick! Thanks
