I think the link will work now...
Very nice, especially for your first time. I really liked the clownfish and the spotted eagle rays. Some of your other photos could be improved somewhat in Photoshop by increasing contrast.
But very nice. And welcome to Wetpixel!
Thank you Jim,
I try to improve... How would you take a picture of this little guy called Pegasus? What would be your settings? I took as much as 10 pictures of him, but he always looks a bit colorless (Sure he is in reality not very colorful, but none of my pictures became really good). And in addition he always turned away from me ![]()
This is a tough one. I tried to improve the color and contrast in Photoshop Elements, but without much success. Using Color Variations to decrease the green and blue, and increasing the red did help a little, but not much.
For animals that sit on the sand or hardpan, I try to get the camera housing down on the bottom and shoot horizontally if possible. That will eliminate much of the sand, which often "burns out," and it will give you a water background, where you may get better contrast.
Thx a lot Jim,
I will try to do better next time. Good idea to go deeper with the cam to catch some of the blue in the background. As an excuse I can say that this was my first underwater-photo and I was so happy to find this little pegasus fish (because he is not seen very often) that I forgot everything I ever heard about underwater photo tips. The picture is already improved by photoshop (Levels/saturation/color balance) so there is not much left to do.
May I hear your opinion about three lionfish-shoots, which one do you like and which one not?
thank you
Stefan

Stefan - I like all three of the lionfish, but I like #1 the most. You got a very nice blue water background in all of them, and that is not always easy to do.
For #2, I would crop the over-exposed yellow coral.
#3 is a nice photo with the lionfish and the diver. It would have been a little better if the lionfish was closer to the diver and facing him.
They are good photos. I would hate to show the photos from my first time with a camera underwater. They were unbelieavably horrible!
