HD Multimedia Vids and 720p Compact Camera Test

  1. Hello All,

Just released the third in a series of three DiveFilm HD Video podcast episodes at iTunes featuring HD video creations using dSLR photos and video, photos only, and a very interesting 720p vid shot entirely on a compact camera.

Have wanted to showcase some productions that were not shot on standard video cameras, in part, because I'm very excited to see more underwater imagers getting into producing video shorts using a variety of new HD capable cameras and video editing software.

These most recent DiveFilm HD Video podcast episodes include:

"The Night Safari" by Tony Wu. Tony is one of Asia's top underwater photographers, and this is a wonderful multimedia piece that includes stills and HD video shot on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Edited in Final Cut.

"Mistaken Identity" by Joe Dovala. Joe is an accomplished underwater still photographer who is doing some great multimedia storytelling with his images. He makes his short videos using ProShow Gold.

"720 Compact Camera Test" by Huw Jenkins. Huw has edited for a number of well-known production entities, and had the experience of having his main camera go down on a recent trip to the Philippines. So he decided to shoot an entire short piece using his compact camera (Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5) shooting 720p video. Pretty amazing considering, and a good indication of how important good lighting and shot composition can be to making video look its best.

Really glad to showcase some of the new video and multimedia work being done these days--hope you enjoy the new HD podcasts!!

  2. Enjoyed those Mary Lynn. The last one is a great piece considering it was shot on a Lumix. And Tony seems to be getting on just fine with video on his 5DII. Lembeh looks like a place where a dSLR can really excel for video. All those lens choices and plenty of time to set up exposure, focus etc. in a fairly controlled environment.
