SS Annie M Miller 5DII/7D Video - different perspectives

1 posts
  1. Below are links to two seperate videos of a dive from a Sydney Australia wreck called the SS Annie M Miller.

Each video was compiled using video footage shot on the same dive by Damien Siviero ( http://damiensiviero.com ) and myself.

Each video shows a unique perspective of how we both decided to shoot and subsequently edit the footage taken on the day.

My version can be see at

    http://blog.aengusm.com/?p=464

    and Damien's at

    http://damiensiviero.com/video.aspx

My 4 minute 30 second video was shot with a Canon 5D II, a Canon EF 17-40 at F4.0, 1/50th sec, 17mm, and iso 400 at depth with iso 100 on deco.

Aquatica housing, no additional lighting (FIX LED48DX on but being used for diver locate)

Mine is compiled in Edius Neo 2.0. on Windows (7 x64)

    1. Converted to Canopus codec

    2. Colour balance manipulation (primarily contrast increased)

    3. Exported to wmv

Damien's settings and workflow was Canon 7D, Tokina 10-17mm – mostly at 14mm, ISO400 (except for first few clips, accidentally had it on auto) and 2 x Fisheye LED 1000DX + Diffuser & 6000K filters

    1. Edited at 1080p, 25fps

    2. Converted to Mpeg2 (max quality)

    3. Edited Premiere Pro CS4 (Mac x64 Snowleopard)

    Color balance + contrast increased

    4. Exported to h.264 @ 720p25 high quality. Blip mp4 stream is native file out of premiere pro, flv file being converted now

Both of us are very new to video, never mind video on a dSLR and we have learned heaps from this exercise...we hope you enjoy the video!!

    Cheers,
