Camera wanted and cameras for sale

  1. I am interested in purchasing and selling camera gear, and would like to know both where to buy and where to sell the items I am listing below. I know dive gear very well, but cameras are not something I purchase, let alone sell, very often so I'd welcome any advice or offers.

I want to purchase the following equipment or items very similar: Cannon dSLR T1-I body with 24-28mm lens. I also need an Ikelite or Aquatica dSLR housing, with port body and dome assembly (glass not plastic) to fit lens purchased. Also want 2 Ikelite DS-161 strobes (with charger) with strobe arms and necessary digital TTL sync chords. I don't care much for shooting Macro, so the above should work, but I'm open to suggestions.

I have the following items to sell:

I have attached pictures of 2 different sets of cameras, housings, and cases that I wish to list for sale on an internet sight which advertises underwater camera gear for sale.

The first listing (shown in the attachment labeled Light & Motion, etc.) includes a Sony DCR-TRV900 Digital Video Camera Recorder with 2 long life lithium batteries, 2 chargers & AV and S-Video cables. The housing is an aluminum Light & Motion Stingray II with an internal color filter and wide angle external lens ( I had this housing back to Light & Motion to be tested to assure continued good service less than 20 underwater hours ago) It is in excellent condition. It also has a monitor back with an LCD screen for easy underwater viewing of the shots being taken. Also included is a Pelican padded rolling camera case with extra zip off compartment for your laptop (used one trip) which I carry on the plane. This setup has everything someone needs to shoot underwater video in natural light. I get very clear pictures at 100 feet (strobes would give more color). I'm asking less than 30% of what I have in it at $1395.

The second listing (Ikelite Housing for Cannon G-9) is an Ikelite underwater housing #6147.09 which is made for the compact Cannon G-9 camera which goes in it. The camera actually has an underwater setting which is very useful. The package includes an extra flat port and an Epoque DCL-20 wide angle lens with an Ikelite UR/Pro External 3.6" Color Filter; and a padded Camera bag. I have only used this set up on 2 dive trips-one to the Bahamas and one to the Turks & Caicos Islands, and the housing has been in the water for less than 30 hours, so it and the camera are in brand new condition. I have shot beautiful underwater still shots with this rig and the only thing that would make it any better would be a strobe. I'm happy to send some of the shots that have been taken with this set up if you wish to see the quality. It's easy to learn to shot with, and very travel friendly (low weight and small). $995 is the price on this package.

Finally, I have a hoseless Dive Watch/Computer and Transmitter – Oceanic Atom 2, which has seen less than 35 dives and is in new condition with box and all papers, which I can let go for about $650.

I plan to upgrade to one camera system which will do primarily stills, but some video as well, for an upcoming trip to the Galapagos Islands. As an instructor, I turn gear over every couple of years and get the latest stuff at a good price so that people see me using it—In some cases, I'm a walking advertisement for the dive shop to an extent, but that means buyers get a good deal on equipment.

    Thanks for taking a look,

  2. there is no 24-28 lens.. you might be referring to a 24-70..

if you're using the T1i the effective length is multiplied 1.6x so instead of 24-70 it is actually 34-112..

but if you're using a full frame camera then you should get the actual length..

I think DS-161 is overkill for u/w photography..

Those strobes were developed for video.. unless you do want to use the T1i for underwater video (the camera is capable of taking pics and vids)..

if not, You should be fine with the DS-125 or DS-160..

If you want to overkill the strobes for u/w photos, try the DS-200..

    Just my $0.02..

  3. I'm changing the price on the Sony DCR-TRV900 Digital Video Camera package listing from $1395 to $1,095 / offer.

    Thanks for taking a look!
