underwater video footage - need help with qoute

  1. Hey crew

I'm a photo guy not a video dude BUT i've recieved a request for some video and I just happened to purchase a nikon d90.

They want me to do something like this

Can my d90 produce slow mo results like this?

I should be fine for lighting as I imagine i'll shoot it with natural light and the video they've linked me too (above) seems to be rather dark anyway.

So what should I qoute for a job like this? The same as my photography day rate? Do video qoutes differ in how their provided?

Basically I need a crash course on qouting for video.

With photos I provide a day rate and license qoute which includes all editing.

    Thanks for your help!!

  2. Twixtor is an excellent plug in for After Effects. I should warn you that both AE and Twixtor have learning curves so I hope you are already familar with them.

  3. What you should quote on the job is also not an easy question to ask. Really you have to work out what the client will pay, generally corporate rates i Australia are around $1000-$1500 per day depending on your experience and what is involved.

Having said that underwater is harder to gauge but as a general rule I will charge a network, around $500 for a sequence (for the story etc around 20 secs) for a one time national use in Australia.

If I'm charging for multiple use internationally I will charge $90 per sec.

  4. What use will it be put to... is it just for web... or broadcast, DVD, HD playback on a TV or monitor etc. Just that the various output requirements will take different amounts of time to complete and would help define some of the parameters of the shoot I would think.

  5. Thanks guys!

    really helpful info

I'm not sure what it will be used for - but i've requested the info

    Ill keep this updated

    Cheers
