I love the last couple of paragraphs:
Commercial whaling has been banned worldwide since 1986 but Japan justifies its annual hunt as scientific research.
Meat not used for study ends up in restaurants and shops.
In other words, 99.9% ends up in restaurants and shops.
Great PR job except none of the whalers EVER catch what they set as a quota. But that's like claiming credit for causing rain to fall by jumping around, yelling rain rain rain! Look at the hunt stats for the last 20 years for Norway, Iceland and Japan. I'm sure they've disrupted a few whales from being shot but then again the japanese have shown they will no longer not shoot or process whales in front of cameras, because of the antagonizing antics of Sea Shepherds. It use to be that they'd stop all work when Green Peace and SS cameras were rolling.
