Things We'd Love to See on DVD...

  1. Having had the pleasure of being on several trips with Alex, and seeing first hand his teaching ability, it has occurred to me more than once how great it would be to have him do a DVD (or two!) of tutorials about uw photography. He could probably just use notes from various presentations he's done to fill the DVD with tips and tricks! I'd buy several copies - one for myself and some for dive buddies! In fact, I think it would quickly become a "must have" for any serious uw photographer!

So how about it, Alex? Got any plans to do anything like that? :)

That would be good however there are quite a few excellent shooters on here with a wealth of knowledge so how about a 'Best of' DVD ... Tapping into all that expertise, how to produce wonderful images in a different variety of locations

Ooh, I LIKE that idea even better (no offense, Alex)!

Maybe Eric will consider a "Wetpixel - Best Yet All Wet" DVD, with segments submitted by people chosen by him and/or the board of Wetpixel! I think it might even be more profitable than T-shirts!! :)

  4. A couple of years ago we had very serious plans to make the first in a series of tutorials. Even had resorts signed up to host us etc. But sadly a coinciding window has never come up in my and cameraman's schedule to make it happen. There are some possibilities on the horizon, so watch this space.

The key is to have a cameraman who knows what to film - so you can really demonstrate the changes that make a difference between the good shots and excellent ones. Otherwise it is just a talk on underwater photography over the top of moving images of someone taking pictures underwater.

We have a script for the macro one. So watch this space. With patience.

I agree it would be great to have a team effort, but the more people involved in something like this the more inertia. Martin Edge has some stories about conjuring up contributors to his 4th Edition!

p.s. I do have a very big announcement coming up in the next few weeks about a teaching event, which is currently not a particularly well kept secret!
