Peter Hughes cancels trip, now where?

  1. Email from PH says our July Komodo trip only has 4 divers so likely it will be canceled. So first if anyone is interested in Komodo July 17-27th you can probably get a good deal, need 8 divers to go out.

So if this trip fails we would like to stay in this area (South Pacific, lol), has to be July, have 10 days of diving, open to live-aboard or shore-op and for a change of pace someone that really caters to photogs... Very curious about the Philippines, have never been.

Thanks, all and any suggestions welcome.

  2. I have some suggestions if you want to do the PI in July. You can PM me or swing by the Philippine Dept. of Tourism booth this weekend at the Tacoma Show and talk to me directly. :D

  3. Just to try to be clear, it appears the Peter Hughes (the man) is no longer associated with Peter Hughes Diving (the company). It seems he has bought into or started another dive operation in the Galopagos called DivEncounters as Don notes in the link above

So Peter didn't cancel your trip, the company did. :D Doesn't really matter though. It still sucks either way.

So, how does this affect any plane reservations one might have already made? Are you stuck?

  5. We seem to be having PH issues. This trip and we were booked on back to back trips on the PH boat in the Galapagos this September. From what I understand that boat is no longer part of the PH/Aggressor fleet. Don't know if Peter is running it directly but supposedly that trip is still good to go with assurance "the same high standards will carry through" with the new operation.

Yes airfare is what is going to be a pain. We are looking for other Komodo vessels going out at that time. Otherwise we will have a minimum of US$400 to eat to change flights on Delta/NWA. The joys of international travel.

Yeah, looks like Sky Dancer is getting a new name:

The soon to be renamed vessel M/Y GALAPAGOS SKY (which is now known as M/Y Sky Dancer)

will, as of June 13, 2010, no longer be affiliated with Peter Hughes Diving, Inc.

Interesting -- a new (uh, renamed) Peter Hughes (no longer affiliated with Peter Hughes Diving, Inc.) boat!

    More can be found HERE

  7. We had the same issue in Feb with the Bidadari(2 asian divers cancelled last moment) and we ended up travelling all the way to Labuan Bajo only to find out it would just be myself and my dive buddy for the trip. Nevertheless, they did go out for 8 days and it was an excellent trip(flat seas, good food and extra space).

I thought July is a lot busier than Dec-Feb in Komodo?

I an considering a Peter Hughes trip that does not yet have enough guests to be confirmed. Does anybody know of any trip cancellation insurance that will cover this situation?
