After we left the first stop on our Philippines trip, Puerto Galera after seven days diving we moved on Anilao. Anilao is well known for being a macro heaven so there was no wide angle shot during the 5 days we dived there. My 100 macro lens never left the camera and the only changes I made with my setup was to sometimes shoot with my Canon 500D close-up lens. Our favourite shots from Anilao can be found here:
Congrats on a great trip Gudge! Some very special images there. Did you learn anything to do different next time or about the 7D that you didn't expect?
Steve
Great shots.
Where did you stay?
I loved the diving in Anilao - your photo's bring back good memories!
Awesome shots Gudge!
Sharpness of these images is just superb.
Thanks for posting

Things we learned/would do different next time:
1. Try and avoid visiting Puerto Galera/Anilao area around spring tides. We were there for the whole cycle of tides arriving right on peak spring tide and departing just before the next spring tide. Currents in both areas were "uncomfortable" on some of the dives done in the two or three days closest to spring tides, for the rest of our time there they weren't really an issue.
I'll be posting a trip report some time later this week.
Love the eel capture with the eye "in" its mouth.
The "fat" pygmy
And the eye spots on the snail are the most realistic looking eyes i have seen.
wow, some cracking pictures. my favorites are 1 and 4.
looking forward for your trip report, as i'm planning to go to philippines.
Outstanding gallery, Ross! I particularly like the fat pygmy, the huge variety of nudi's and Mary's whip coral goby is really nice - great composition with the curve of the whip. After my first Philippine trip (Puerto Galera) earlier this year, Anilao is now high on my list!
Phil
The fat pygmy is very cool. Actuaslly the whole of your gallery is very cool.
