First dSLR outing!--North Shore, O'ahu, HI

  1. I finally housed my Canon 5D. Something I have been trying to manage for a few years now and my dream came to fruition a few days ago. I picked up a Subal CD5 and an 8" dome to use with my 17-40L. Time to go diving! C&C very welcome as this is the first time I've had an slr underwater. Shooting bare bones with no strobes, zoom gear, or diopter for the lens (all ordered, just couldn't wait to get it in the water. Should be here any day now.)

  2. I love 2rd image

  3. Congrats on the new rig! The 17-40 looks like it did pretty well. Can you tell me the camera settings you used for the turtle shots? My testing with the lens on my 40D showed that it loved to be around f/11.

    Have a great time!

  4. Steve,

I had it set to 1/640sec at f/8 ISO 250. Next time out I'll try f/11. Thanks for the tip!

  5. Here is a link to the thread that discussed the tests I did with my rig. It may be different with your setup. If I remember correctly it was sensitive to extension ring length and your dome may be different. Based on what I can see with your turtle shots the corners look very good, just the way you shot it.
