  1. Panasonic has released more details of its AG-AF100 professional Micro Four Thirds HD camcorder. It is capable of recording up to 12 hours of video using its two SDXC compatible slots. It offers 1080 and 720 video recording in frame rates of 59.94, 50, 29.97, 25 or 23.98p with the top two rates interlaced in 1080 mode. The camcorder also features industry-standard HD SDI and XLR connectors and is compatible with the company's line up of Lumix G lenses, filters and adapters for using 35mm lenses.

For now I found only this pdf:

  2. If it reads the full sensor information...great.

If it line skips, then it's a pointless marketing exercise.

I just noticed the specs in the pdf...59.94i; 50i...interlacing in this day and age?

For a laugh, see what they think of this over at the Red forum:

  3. LOL did you see the last comment from Jim..... very funny especially as now after more Scarlet delays

  4. This is interesting...some bright spark has reverse engineered the firmware on the Panasonic GH1. The new firmware is still evolving (a bit like Magic Lantern for the Canon 5D2) but it's given the GH1 video image quality which they claim is now much better than the Canon 5D2. Without aliasing or moire (since the Pana sensor doesn't line-skip like the Canon's). 32Mbit AVCHD 1080/24p; 50Mbit 1080p MJPEG.

"At these high bit-rates, it's footage is beginning to look like what we were expecting from 2nd generation DSLRs that aren't yet released. It will also give the AF100 a run for it's money. Panasonic must not be too pleased about the hack, if they know!" :notworthy:
