  1. Finally got my pictures done from our recent trip to Palau. We were on the Palau Aggressor - second trip with them. I really love Palau - wish I could have spent more time. I would love to see what you guys think. I got to try some new techniques (for me). I was so excited to be able to photograph mantas - as well as nudibranchs this trip.

The rest of the collection is on my flickr site www/flickr/com/photos/pammurph

  2. Very nice, i like the manta shot and the jellyfish shot. Hope i get good pics when i head there year end. :)

  3. Nice! :)

  4. Wonderful Pam, congratulations! The only thing I might do is try and modify the fourth one a little to darken up the blown out coral in the bottom right. The white area is sucking my eye away from the subject. You might think about a little bit of a crop to help too.

Love the manta shot, and the sun rays with the jellies is seriously cool.

    Nicely done. :)

  5. Hi Pam,

some great shots there in your photostream, especially the WA images. Did find the pink hue on the Mantas a bit

distracting for me. Could it be corrected in PS without throwing out the beautiful blues behind?

    Cheers,

    Jim.

  6. Great shots Pam!

First and last are my favourites.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Cheers

  7. Hey Jim,

Don't you think the pink is a WB adjustment? Not sure if Pam has a calibrated monitor but I'm seeing the same thing.

    Cheers,

    Steve

  8. Hey guys - thanks for the feedback. I see that now. I worked on this (and learned some more about my LR features this afternoon). Let me know what you think now. And yes...I have a calibrated monitor - as of 3 weeks ago. I am getting into the tech age (slowly but surely).

    Thanks again- Pam

  9. Pam,

Most of the folks I've read recommend we adjust the WB first when processing RAW files. Do you see how the water in the last shot still looks a bit toward the purple side? If you're in LR try pulling the tint and the temp to the left about -22 or so and see how it looks to you. I'm working with the jpg so it won't be quite as good as you can do.

    Have fun with it,

  10. awesome shots! those manta shots are spectacular!

  11. "Purple Highlights Please" is my fave. :notworthy:

Love the Manta's too. The water looks so much clearer

than when I was there in Dec.

Hopefully it'll be that nice in Sept when I'm there.

Did you do land based or live aboard?

ps: I had issues the first couple times I tried to look

at your Flickr stream because of the slashes instead

    of dots in the url.

Took me a bit to figure it out.

  12. Thanks for the note on the url - thought I had it in there the right way

We did a live aboard - same as the first time we went.

We dove German Channel 2 times this past trip. The first time we had vis that you see in the manta pics. We decided to go back and try it again - hopefully for more mantas - vis was horrible that day so even if they had come around, we would not have been able to get pics of them. We had a wonderful cownose rya that day but could not get any decent pics of it b/c of the bad vis.

Hope you have a great trip in Sept.

  13. I think we did German 5 or 6 times and the viz was never that good.

I guess it really does change that quickly.

    Thanks.
