I have two sea&sea ys 110 strobes. I want to use them as slaves. The on-board slave sensor sucks, so I am thinking about a Heinrich trigger.
Here are my questions:
What is the difference between the Heinrich RSU and digital adaptor?
Can both be used to trigger a slave?
Can I use a sync cord that has an ikelite housing fitting for the Heinrich RSU? Or do they only come in the nikonas housing fitting type?
Another tropic i am considering buying another strobe. i want the most powerful strobe. a friend had a portable sun in mexico, this strobe was amazing, it was all metal and i think made in germany, any ideas or help would be welcome.
Your friend was probably using the Hartenberger 625 TTL digital with whopping GN32/625 Watt seconds and probably the most powerful underwater strobe.

Can you run a sync cord to one strobe then use other as slave. Run fiber optic cable between the 2 strobes to insure firing of slave. Or can you run f/o to both 110's from a master strobe? Slave sensor works for macro but not if strobes are parallel to each other as may be the case when shooting WA or more distant subjects.
thanks

From a creative point of view you want a slave trigger on a cord away from the slave strobe - so that you can hide the remote strobe. These images are much more effective where the light source is not immediately obvious (plus this avoids bright flare from the off camera strobe, which is usually the first place the eye goes to in the composition).

My recommendation is to get Ikelite strobes, and the Ike manual EV controller. A bit bulkier but it actually seems to work.
I have the RSU, and it is ummm well flaky would be generous. Sometimes it causes my strobe to stop working altogether when plugged in. Sometimes it refuses to go off (this may be that it has a shutoff when it sees too much light in my dining room)
My experience was not that great. I messaged reef where I got the RSU and have not heard anything back from them. Maybe i need to followup that but in the end I just abandoned the RSU and went Ikelite
