does anyone know if the d-180 strobe can work with the ikelite oly 5050 housing?
am getting worried about all the talk of pt015 floodings occuring.
all advice and input is welcome...

The D180 has only an optical slave trigger. You'll have to rig up something to get light from the camera flash into the optical fiber for reliable operation.
For an example of this, check out the photo at the bottom of this page:

(You can buy a fiber kit from them as well)
The problem is that I don't think there's any place on the Ike housing to attach the fiber. You may have to be creative and rig your own.
The Ikelite housing will ship with two diffuser panels that attach to the lens barrel.
You can use either the opaque or transparent diffusers, your "clear photo system" from Inon will take care of the strobe light.
The Optical D Cable/W5 Set includes an attachment that works with this diffuser panel.
