Nothing terribly exciting - winter has arrived here in Perth and the water temp is down around the 15 degree celcius mark - the good thing is that there are less divers to get in your way
Anyway here are some photos from the last couple of weeks - comments etc welcome
Heading off to Tulamben in Bali in a few weeks time so I should get some more interesting one then.
15 degrees??.......that's tropical water temp over here!!!
If I had that on my doorstep- I wouldnt be going to Bali!!!
Can you tell me what cute little fish species that is- in your last image??
Damo
Damo,
Thanks for your comments in my younger days the temp didn't bother me too much but now it's a different story and the poor old kidneys work overtime
That fish we call a 'Scorpion fish' and I think it is a member of the Gurnard family. He has some very posinous spines on his dorsel fin and they can be very painful if stung. This guy; however, is very use to divers and often seeks us out as he likes his photo being taken
Karl
Hi Karl,
nice Winter collection there, you certainly get some interesting species on the West coast.
The fish BTW is a Bighead Gurnard Perch (Neosebastes pandus), aparently they can get to 1/2 a metre.
Cheers,
Jim.
Jim,
Thanks for that - thought he was a Gurnard. Most West Aussies just call them Scorpion fish (but then over here they call anything that stings you a Scorpion fish )
This guy wold be close to 40 cm in lenght and has been at this particular site now for over 6 months and really likes to follow divers around and if you have a camera he doesn't mind posing for you
Here is a another photo of him from the same dive - I took this one first and then moved in close and got the other one.
Karl
Karl you are pretty Keen to go diving this time of year around Perth.
I still wear my drysuit diving there in the sumner time.
