Zebra pattern on external monitor

  1. Hi all,

I'm getting to grips with my HVX200! I've got it in a Gates Housing with the EM419 external monitor. The camera is recording via firewire to a Citidisk. I can get the information displays on the monitor, but can't get the zebra pattern.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Many thanks

    Adam

  2. Hey Adam,

May be a loss of connection through the connectors - with the signal falling off. Are you able to connect the monitor direct to the camera (not through the housing) to check if it works like that?

Maybe it does not accommodate that function... Who needs Zebra anyway :)

  4. Hi Adam

I don't know for sure with the HVX200, but many cameras will not output peaking, Zebra etc etc to external monitors. It's not a fault of the monitor, housing or connection, just that the camera itself doesn't do it. The get around of course is to check those functions through the vewfinder when needed. Personally I hate using Zebra underwater, but Peaking would certainly be nice for macro work.

    Cheers, Simon

  5. Sorry mate, it can't be done. The zebras cannot be outputted through the video out and therefore can't be shown on the monitor. Same with the expanded focus (focus assist), I really wish both were available on the monitor but you need to use the viewfinder for these things.

    Good luck with the camera.

    Cheers

    Josh
