Hey all
Heading to India soon and was wondering if anyone can speak on the quality of the diving in Goa, India?
I'm guessing it's not going to be like the Solomons but I'm wondering if it's worth the $100 for a day's diving.
Cheers

Dived in Goa in Nov. 2007 and it was okay, not brilliant, but definitely worth a look. The diving is seasonal, outside monsoon time.
You can read my article on the diving at my website on the following link -

Hi,
Diving in Goa and the vicinity is currently closed. Season will open 2nd october. Its worth a look as the fish life is excellent,,,,but most dives are not over 10-12 meters or less. Viz is always an issue and 5 mtrs is a good day. So take a call on that. There are days when you may not be able to see more than two to three feet. There is another place 4 hours drive from Goa called Nethrani where the diving is far more decent. you can check out www.barracudadiving.com the owner is a friend of mine Mr. Venkat Charloo. I would ideally recommend the Andamans, subject to time, convenience BUT one has to change flights either from Chennai or from Calcutta and go on to Port Blair..from where its a ferry ride of 3 hours to the islands. One can even fly to agatti via cochin and dive there..some super diving..BUT check on season. Do let me know if you need any further details, help or clarifications.
Cheers,
Diggy

Agree with Diggy. Venkat (or Venkatesh?) and Karen have a decent operation in Goa. I got wet in Goa for 1 day and decided it wasn't worth it to pursue it. Went to Nutrani which was better for viz but Murudeshwara (the town they go from) has got an awesome Shiva temple and gold statue, although I hear it's silver now. If you are there and want to get wet, do it but don't expect anything special, esp with viz.
