  1. So i found an old Sony camcorder video light... its obviously not optimal for diving

    A - its not waterproof

B - its not super bright

but its cheap and its what i have... so as my first dive light DIY i figured it might be a good place to start. Just wondering on how you think it would be best to waterproof this guy?

  2. A sealed (o-rings) acrylic box seems the obvious...

A dome in the front could serve to not reducing the angle of coverage of the light.

    Some kind of switch...

I saw one DIY housing made with this.

Don´t know depht rates or if there´s a box with the measures you need...

    Good luck!

Why not mount the light upright in an acrylic tube instead of a box?

With a tube, which would stand upright, you would have the curvature resembling a dome port and keep your angle of light. You could mount the light on the lid, which would make the light secure and would be very easy to change the batteries. The top of the tube can be just a flat piece of acrylic and the bottom lid would mount the o-ring and strobe. Another idea would be to mount the light upside down so you would pull the light out from the top.

    Good luck,

    Barry
