I should be in Hawaii at the beginning of December for a couple of days. (read less than a week) if I can manage to get out of Australia and survive in New Zealand.
If budget allows, I would not mind finding a liveaboard for 2 days or so, or even a good operator for a couple of dives.
Any recommendation is welcome.

There is a pretty good write-up on diving in Hawaii in the October issue of Undercurrents. They gave Dive Makai on the Big Island good marks.
I think you are limited to the Kona Aggressor for live-aboards but they only do 7 day trips. The Kona Aggressor is still one of my favorites. It travels all the way to South Point and back along the west coast of Hawaii. There is almost no soft coral but lots of indemic species and very good macro. There are also sharks, mantas, dolphins, and probably humpbacks that time of year.
Shore diving around Kauilua-Kona rules, in my opinion. You can do most of the sites from shore and some that you wouldn't get to w/ Dive Makai.
