Diving in offshore wind turbines

  1. I'm trying to find out if we can take underwater photographs in offshore wind turbines. We want promoting this type of clean energy and explain to

the people that this generated underwater ecosystems.

We would like to find out what is the possibility of going with our boat to dive on some generators. The problem is we do not know the rules in these cases, and what would be the most appropriate place for take photographs.

If you could help it is very helpful to us.

    Thanks in advance

    Regards

  2. Hi Carlos,

I spend some of my time in the commercial sector installing windfarms, so am reasonably familiar with their layout etc.

A couple of issues that come to mind are that you would have to get the owner/operators approval as a 500m exclusion zone is in place around all turbines.

This is probably not a show stopper as most operators are keen to advertise their green credentials.

The other is that by in large they are in coastal areas, which generally means high current and low viz (and by low viz I mean less than a metre when the tide is running). So this will make photography challenging.

Either way drop me a PM and let me know what you are thinking and I can maybe have a think about some suitable sites.

    Best Erol

  3. Thank you :D
