Nauticam

Hi

I'm Currently own a nauticam D90 with 8.5" dome c/w 20mm Ext with locking system for my tokina 10-17mm FE and thnking to get a sigma 17-70 Lens (new /old). So what is the best way to save a cost.... can i use back my 20mm and add extra 30mm or get a new 50mm??

Do any one here using inon 45 VF for nauticam D90? i'm thinking betwen Nauticam 180 and inon 45 FV, i understand that a lot of good review for nauticam 180 VF but i like the 45 type and can 360 rotate...the pricing make so much different.

I have both viewfinders, and to be honest i never user the 45degree. It's just sitting there on the shelf! I might use it more often when i shoot the bug eye lens a lot - but even after using 45degree finders for years on my nexus, I much prefer the straight through one, especially for night dives. If you want to save some $$ could you use the Inon 180? I think you could.

If you happen to be in Lembeh in the near future let me know and you can try them out if scuba symphony doesnt have them available for loan.

i heard inon 180 VF is not that good... the images will dispaly in smaller or something like that.... when compare with inon 45, it is true

I can't imagine how a linear finder can compete with a 45-degree finder for macro, as the latter makes it so easy to get the housing down to critter-level.

There's a Nauticam twist, though: the adapter design has been tweaked, so some new housings need an adapter that fits a small lip inside the milled seat on the acrylic plate. The old adapters don't fit...

I have used 45 degree VF for 6-7- years , Seacam and Inon . In my opinion, except downward dierction of shot, it woild be much comfortable in aspect of your posture. In some cases, not like straight VF, you don't need bend your body or neck much.

I think this is largely a matter of personal preference with any housing. I far prefer the Inon 45 degree finder for macro and the 180 degree or even "live view" for wide angle. If is much easer to find a fast moving wide angle subject in the 180 degree finder, but again it all depends on what you use most. I have friends that shoot macro all the time with the 180 finder and sware by it.

I also love the 45 degree for macro shots and the 180 for larger scenics and animals. Split shots are also very difficult with the 45 degree. They both therefore have their benefits in certain photographic contexts.

I think it is a personal preference, but what i found strange was that with the 45degree i used to get really, really frustrated in night dives.

Trying to find the correct angle to look through the viewfinder, then also the subject. Now with teh 180 i love night diving. maybe i'm weird

I used the 45 everyday for years and loved it for marco here in Indo, but to be honest now with the 180 i cant see my putting the 45 back on other than for specialist situations. The nauticam 180 is so bright and big i think it might have taken the shine off the 45 for me.

Maybe i'll try a dive with the 45 to see if i fall in love again.
