Bonaire continues to inspire

  1. Hi guys - I want to share some of my favorite pictures from our trip to Bonaire a couple of weeks ago. Eric and I continue to be enthralled with Bonaire. We had a great time diving, taking pics, seeing friends and in general relaxing. Underwater, the usual suspects were in abundance as well as new ones. Had lots of fun playing with redlip blennies which were so cooperative. And the spotted eagle ray below let me get close and play for about 10 minutes before getting tired of me. Interesting note from the trip...On Monday, lighting struck one of the oil drums up north and it took several days for it to burn itself out. You could see the fire during the day and at night it made for quite a sight. We came out of the water at Karpata Tuesday around lunch to find everyone gone - except for one lady (and it had been full) - because the park rangers had closed the area off to everyone.

Here are a few of my favs from the trip. The rest of the pics are on my flickr site www.flickr.com/photos/pammurph

None of these shots are cropped. Feedback welcome.

  2. Thanks, nice images. Agreed, there's something special about Bonaire that keeps us going back.

We heard about the fire at the oil terminal and were a bit worried. Good to read your implication that there is no marine damage.

Off there for a fortnight next week :D Going to try a few days on the East side.

  3. Hi Pam!

Great to hear You had a nice trip!

I like the third shot. Seems like visibility there is quite good?

    Cheers

  4. Thanks for the trip report and the nice images. You and I switched to similar DSLR equipment at a similar time. It has been pleasant to watch (with some envy) as you have taken so many nice trips since that switch. And nice to see the steady improvement in your posted photo's as you are learning your equipment and how to use it better and better. Wishing I had more time in the water for similar learning at this end - I certainly need it.

Here is a picture I took from Buddy Dive of the fire. I had to blow it up so you can see the fire better.

Several folks we talked to did the east side the week we were there and said the surge was horrible. Hope it is better when you get there.

Vis in Bonaire is usually fairly good.

Dave - would it be nice to be able to dive and take pics all we wanted We would be doing this  and our spouses would be doing this :D

    Happy diving - Pam
