Hi Folks,
I recently got all the parts I required to do some close focus wide angle images and took the rig out for some night dives.
I dived the local pier at Rye where good numbers of critters come out from hiding to feed and hunt.
A Shorthead Worm Eel devouring a cephalopod.
A Stargazer patiently waiting for it's next victim.
A Seahorse nestled in Sargassum weed.
This site can have veritable swarms of Mysid Shrimps which can make avoiding backscatter an absolute nightmare. The two nights we dived
there were no exception with the Mysid swarms thick as soup in some pockets. Fortunately I had just recently got a Sola 600 and the red light
function worked exceptionally well to avoid Mysids flocking to my light. I did notice though that the red colour was coming through in some of the
images. I'm not sure how to stop this but I'll have to play around with some different camera settings and light positions.
All shots taken with the tokina 10-17mm with Kenko 1.4x TC behind a Baré compact dome. Very happy with this combo and I love the field of view
it has. I just like when I used to use an Inon UWL-105 wet lens on a Fuji E900 only better.
Cheers,
Jim.
