Whale sharks of La Paz

  1. Images from our annual trip to La Paz MX in Sept 2010.

The first day we spent 45 minutes with a whale shark. The last day we spent half a day with six different whale sharks. All young, not more than 20 ft long.

Here is an image to remind you to look down and not at your camera's LCD.

  2. Very cool!

  3. Nice close pass!

  4. Nice one Dave.

I was out there at the beginning of the month. We had 10 encounters in an hour and a half (basically the whole time with sharks). We used a spotter plane, which made such a difference (it found the first shark within 1 minute). It only cost $16 US per person. Money well spent!

  5. Thanks all.

We used a spotter plane as well. Only 5 divers so not as cheap.

  6. Wow! The vis. is so much better than the soup we had in the spring (though we found 5 sharks without a plane).

    ;)

  7. We might have had 15 to Ft 20 vis in green water. The shots were mostly taken a 10 mm using the Tokina FE. Some were taken basically at the dome.
