Both dive locations are indeed challenging. I do fieldwork at Sodwana and Aliwal often. I have had magnificent conditions and at other times its pea soup meets washing machine. Here are a few photos from the good conditions.

I recognize the problems you had. When we were there the viz was not that great either. Great fun to be with the sharks though :-)

Very jealous of you Puffin, looks like you had some good viz then and got some great shots. Was definitely the washing machine affect when I was there, only time I have felt more sea sick underwater..

Would go back tomorrow for another shark dive if I could though
