Some good stuff. Although a lot that has been doing the rounds for a few years.
I particularly like Magnus Lungdren's black and white frog silhouette.

Lot of great pictures ![]()
... a lot that has been doing the rounds for a few years...
Is that the secret, then? I would have thought that the judges would have spotted the familiar images, after all, the world of these competitions isn't that big!
I'm pleased to see Rob Bailey's sharks appearing to do well, and not just because my local club (EMUP) sometimes places my images above his in the monthly competition, which just about keeps my hopes alive...

There are some familiar images...
The rules of this competition, if I recall correctly (having not entered), do allow for any image submitted. Most competitions won't allow images that have placed in a previous competition to be entered. Can't really blame the photographer for this one.
I have to say that an image does lose a bit of "WOW" when you've seen it win or place before. I'm sure this happens for the judges also.
But if the organizers allow it what can you do? Abuse of the, "once its won its no longer eligible" rule bothers me less than abuse of the "novice" category....
Steve
Yeah I think this is one is one of the few (if not the only) big competitions that let's the photographer submit photos that have placed previously in other competitions. The only rule was that the shots should not be submitted to this comp. before.
Would not be very suprised if they change this rule in the future.
Cheers
Karel
I can only recommend to have a look at the Eilat Shootout pictures as well.
Mark Fuller from Israel won the first prize with a wonderful portfolio of five images:

First of all, if the rules say it is OK to enter previous winners, then it is 100% OK.
Sadly, many of the judges in these competitions are out of the loop and really don't follow the competitions any where near as closely as the entrants.

Hi Alex,
as far as I remember the rule for the images of the world was that you can't sent in an image that has been sent in previously to the competition (no matter if it has been placed or not).
This rule should at least avoid to see images a couple of times for this particular competition.

Tobias

Steve
What abuse of the "novice" category?
None in this competition. Was speaking more about competitions in general - not this one.

good, since I won 2nd place in the novice category...
With a pretty incredible photo I may add!
Although a lot that has been doing the rounds for a few years.
