Not a Robust Ghostpipefish... so who am I

3 posts
  1. This guy was in the Alor Archipelago, Indonesia last month. When taking the photo, I thought it was a Robust Ghost Pipefish. Once seeing the photo on screen, I started looking at the 'nose' - too pointed for the ghost pipefish... and also realized... he has legs! All angles of the snout show its long and pointed.

While watching him and taking photo's, he was buzzing around the sandy bottom then over to this location. I do not really recall the depth but we were usually between 30 and 70 ft on most diving.

Trying to remember the length - but I believe he is resting on about finger thickness growth in the photo.

    What do the experts think?

  2. Arrow shrimp. Tozeuma sp.

  3. Looks like Tozeuma lanceolatum. You can just see the 2 faint eye spots on the lower edge.
