Jim Abernethy Receives a Wyland Icon Award at DEMA 2010

  1. Our favorite "Shark Whisperer", Jim Abernethy, received a Wyland Icon Award at the NOGI awards Thursday night during the DEMA show. Personally, it was worth the price of admission just to see Jim dressed up for the event. I had never seen him in either long pants or closed-toe shoes! Here are a few photos. Congratulations to Jim and all of the other winners!

  2. Wonderful news. Did you get a photo of his shoes!

  3. That is awesome for Jim, and well deserved, but seeing him in a sport coat has me all out of sorts.

    Cheers

  4. Sorry, Alex. I forgot to get a shot of his shoes! He was wearing some nice loafers, though.

Todd -- the sports coat threw me as well. I was wondering if some alien had taken over his body. However, then I realized that with the gala starting at 6pm that Jim had texted me a little before 4pm to let me know he was just leaving Dallas! He wasn't worried about missing or even being late for the gala but wanted to let me know he had 14 tigers and a hammerhead the day before at Tiger Beach. At that moment, I knew all was right with the world!

  5. That sounds like Jimmy alright. :)

  6. That's great for Jim - glad to see him get the recognition!

It does seem a little surreal to see him dressed like a civilian, though - he almost looks "normal!" :)

  7. Congrats to Jim!!!!!! Amazing to see him without shorts and tshirt........ He cleans up nicely!
