I have conducted some tests with the Inon 220Z and the Light & Motion ROC setup. I also compared output levels and relative levels between the Inon & SS YS90DX strobes. 3 zip files containing 12 jpg images are attached.
All images were shot with the D100 & L&M Titan D100 with a 60 mm lens. I had one strobe attached to the left bulkhead for each set of images. Shutter: 1/125 sec f/18
I shot a static image 12 times only changing the ROC setting from highest to lowest.
The files are as follows:
InonROCNikon: Inon 220z 12 images with the ROC at setting #3 / Nikon 105
InonTestROCSS: Inon 220z 12 images with the ROC at setting #6 / for SeaSea YS90DX
YS90ROCtest: Sea & Sea YS 90 DX 12 images with the ROC at setting #6 SeaSea YS90DX
Conclusions:
I used the relative output levels of the Sea & Sea strobe with ROC set to Sea&Sea as the baseline for comparison.
The Inon 220Z set in TTL fires with both Nikon & SS ROC settings. However, when the ROC is set to #3 Nikon 105 the output level is 10-15% brighter at all ROC settings when compared to using the strobe with the ROC set to #6 / SeaSea.
When the ROC is set to Nikon 105 setting, the relative levels at each setting appear to be the same as the YS90DX when the ROC is set for Sea&Sea.
The Inon strobe seems to be about 20-25% more powerful than the Sea & Sea under the above shooting conditions.
You can compare the images for each test and look at the RGB output level on the same area of each image to make a comparison for yourself. Based on this test I will use the Inon 220Z with the ROC set at #3 / Nikon 105. I feel that based in this test, the Inon strobe can be included as supported by the ROC.
