Light and Motion Spare parts

  1. One of the cameras we work with is the Sony Z1 with the BluefinHD Light and Motion housing. It is still a great camera for work even though we have stepped up to full HD now. Our problem lies with Light and Motion. We are trying to get hold of some replacement electronic boards for the housing. But it seems that they do not produce them anymore. Which we find totally unacceptable. By doing this Light and motion have turn our housing into a $6000 water tight box..!!!

Does anyone know where more boards can be found, We have tried with light and motion and hit a brick wall.

If we had known that, when light and motion discontinue producing a housing, that they discontinued the spare parts too.. we would NEVER have brought one and will NEVER do again.!!!

    Can anyone help please..

Or has anyone else having the same issues..?

  2. I'm shocked to hear that they've already stopped supplying replacement boards for this housing. That's not good at all.

I bet David at Scubacam in Singapore has some boards, or can repair your faulty ones. The UK agent Fisheye (FEP) might have some as well. Or maybe Backscatter? Or maybe Aus dealer Peter Mooney on these boards. Alternatively the housing is of an age where you may well find some on the used market as people move on to newer rigs.

  3. That's interesting. Here in Australia most established manufacturers of expensive/quality products comply with the Government's "7 year" rule...that spare parts must be made available for a minimum of 7 years after the discontinuation of a product. But of course that's only for products made here...

  4. I too own the housing you mention and find it unbelievable that L&M no longer has spare boards. I was told specifically following discontinuation in 2008 that items such as boards would be available for at least five years. As an amateur who travel 2-3 times per year, the loss of such a significant investment because of a lack of parts, is difficult to comprehend. In the same vein, I suspect those of us who use L&M lights will be equally disappointed when they stop producing batteries given their move to the Sola series.
