Any issues with an s2000 optically syncing off a z240???

  1. Hey everyone,

Ive got a little problem, can anyone help me out?

Using a g10 w/z240 in ike housing now. Im looking to upgrade my kit to two strobes- looking at either the s2000 or d2000.

The problem is that I'd like to eventually upgrade to an SLR (when I win the lottery ), and keep using my strobes.

    1) Apparently the s and d Inon models will sync from a camera flash even without an optical cable? How reliable is that?

    2) Would it be possible for the s or d Inons to sync from the z240's flash if and when I upgrade to an SLR? Any problems with this?

    Thanks for the help everyone!!!

  2. I think that they will both work, with the correct settings. Fibre-optic guides are better as there are problems with reflected light, otherwise.

  3. If you are speaking of remote slaving with no optical cable, they will fire very reliably. They'll also fire from sun rays through the surface of the water, and whenever anyone else in the same ocean takes a picture. Inon makes a part called a slave cable for connecting one strobe to a another, which works very well, and would be recommended to eliminate these issues.

  4. actualy lot of new housing can be use with optical cable exept ikelite seacam and subal.

For the new nikon, 3 of the 5 housing (aquatica, nauticam, ikelite, subal, hugy) use optical.

  5. Thanks for the info everyone...

Which new Nikon is it that has the housings that support optical cables? D7000?

I like Ikelite (price and quality!), I just wish they allowed room for the flash inside their housings!

  6. is the D7000 but the D90 can do with the nauticam.

with the ikelite for DSLR you can't use optical
