Roatan cardinalfish part 2

1 posts
  1. On two night dives I saw several cardinalfish with a broad white saddle. The best, lousy, picture I have is shown below. Not pretty but it will do for ID purposes. In Reef Fish ID the broadsaddle cardinalfish is the only one with white bars on the tail base. However, at cocoview (Roatan) the first white bar is very wide and separated from the second by a broad dark bar. In the book the image shows a very narrow first white band and very faint darker band between the white ones. They also mention the first white band can be absent.

Searching fishbase and google images I could not find any Caribbean cardinalfish with a broad white band as shown here. I'd be interested to hear if any wetpixelers have seen this and if it is regional variant of the broadsaddle cardinalfish or something else.
