Please help choose a cover

  1. We think either cover would be terrific, walrus by Amos Nachoum or lemon sharks by David Doubilet. But, we'll appreciate your help in choosing.

As per screenshot below, please visit http://www.alertdiver.com and click on the cover of your preference.

For me the Walrus cover al the way... The Lemons are cool however, personally, the Walrus pic has everything a cover should have :P

Photographically Doubilet's shot is much more eye catching to me, beautiful play of light. Also is more dive related, though of course the walrus image illustrates the 'bipolar' story. The walrus shot is a nice shot showing a walrus and her pup, but from a photographic perspective not in the same league as Doubilet's.

May depend which story is more important to emphasize.

    Could not agree more!

  5. The Doubliet works for me. Amos' shot is superb but its a 'wildlife' shot not an underwater shot...

I suppose if it is meant to be a 'underwater shot' for an underwater magazine then the Walrus image is pretty much redundant (unless Amos has a Walrus 'half n half' shot) ... I still think the Walrus, on the whole, is a much more appealing image :P

Good points all, and greatly appreciated. We don't feel an obligation to take every cover from underwater. Celebrating our member's ocean adventure is enough to qualify. But, thanks so much for the discussion. Hope you voted. That alone will decide at this point.

BTW - you can't tell from this but the Doubilet design calls for a double hit of UV coating to achieve the look of a metallic ink.

Both David and Amos will have big features in the next issue. Amos on the High Arctic and Antarctica. David will be profiled in Shooter.

  8. I prefer dive related shots. Alert is already drifting away from its original purpose of dive medicine. To also drift away from diving seems too far.

Of course i read it every month regardless of the cover so........

Have no fear. The core content of dive medicine remains intact. As this discussion involved the features relating to the cover choices that's all I referenced. Thanks.

  10. Hi,

I'm new in wet pixel :-) and in underwater world!

I really prefer the white one! for sure!
