Does anybody have experience editing 7d 1080p files with the newest version of premiere elements? The latest version now supports the 7d and the 1d mk4 and I'm wondering if all those transcoding issues with earlier versions has been cleared up (apparently most had to trasncode with neoscene before they could work with the files). As well, are there any real benefits in using Premiere pro over elements? I'm getting ready to begin post-production on my first film (Bay of Fundy) and want to get ready before I begin editing this summer. Anybody's 2 cents would be much appreciated!

I'm not too sure about Elements but Premiere Pro edits H.264 clips natively without transcoding. You'll need to have the minimum system requirement to achieve that. I've gone to using PP for almost all my editing.

Drew are you editing native or transcoded H.264 files ?

I just downloaded the trial version of elements 9 and it does edit native 7d files. Thanks.

Do you think Elements (and Premiere Pro for that matter) would also do native H.264 on a Mac?

Do some editing with it and see how it performs. I had trouble with it crashing all the time. That was like 2 versions back. I ended up going with Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0. I love it. You can get a 30 day trial as well. Now, I edit motion JPEG, not what you are shooting though.

They've added support for the 7d and T2i in version 9. It's been really smooth so far with no crashes.
