pole cam options

  1. Hi Guys

I'm looking to buy a bullet video camera (or a small camera) that I can attach to a pole along with a monitor so I can film life in a local river. It doesn't have to be broadcast quality or anything, but something on a par with a GoPro would be nice. The GoPro seems a good idea, but I don't think you can plug in an external monitor can you?

    Any ideas would be welcomed.

    Thanks

  2. Go Pro's work well but you are correct that there is no external monitor options. Gates and Amphibico do pole cams but completely different price league.

For the money Go Pro's are excellent,

    Hi Gavin

Last year I did a shoot for NHK using a Sony MC1 in a Seatool housing, the quality was pretty good. The only thing that proved a prob was the cable to the monitor was only 3M and fixed. I hear Panny do a similar cam with a longer cable and Gates have a housing for it.

  4. I'm sure that you can use an external monitor with the new GoPro's. Check out their FAQs:

"Can I get a live video output from the camera?

Yes, provided that your HD HERO camera is loaded with the latest firmware update".

Not personally tried it but I have one & it has a socket that says TV.

It's a lot more expensive than the GoPro but...

IDK anything about them - but some of those fishing cams now come with color monitors:
