Rain-X my dome port?

3 posts
  1. Ive been told that people have used Rain-X to help with the over/under shots to help the water droplets slide off the dome so there is no distortion. Being that the port is acrylic (Ikelite), Im afraid that the rain-x would ruin the port according the the directions by rain-x.

Are there any products out there to help with this process?

Possibly a technique that I dont know about?

    Thanks!

  2. NO, NO, NO, Rain X and Acrylic do not go well together, frankly I use Pledge furniture polish for Acrylic dome, the waxy stuff breaks the tension of the water molecule, granted it won<t last all day, but hey your dome will smell nice ;)

Kidding aside, there are older post in this forum about this subject, try researching water droplets, over under or split shots. you will find tons of opinions and techniques on how to get rid of those pesky droplets

there is also a very intersting article on Dive Photo Guide from David Doubilet on this subject, I think it is safe to say, that he knows a thing or two about over/under technique :island:

  3. Thank you Viz'art! Fantastic reply. The link to the site was a great book mark in my collection of education.
