Would anyone know and be able to advise the specification of those very soft yellow o-rings which protect the battery and e-sync compartments on the Z-240s?
Many thanks, Tim

Hi,
i use NBR 70° o-rings instead off the silicone o-rings and have no problems with them.
Only the little blue o-ring from the connector is not the same size as the original.
grtz, Hedwig.

Hi Hedwig, many thanks. Do you have the sizing?

The nearest JIS size that is correct is the P42. The specs on P-42 are ID=41.7 mm Thickness 3.5 mm
My measurements (remember this is a bendy thing) are 41.4 mm ID and 3.4 mm thickness.
In any case, The P-42 will work fine and my measurements are well within the normal tolerance for such o-rings.

The little o-ring in the cap over the sync connector on the Z-240 is a JIS size P-16. The spec is
P-16 ID 15.8 mm +/- 0.12 Thickness 2.4 mm
My measurements are 15.7 mm ID with a 2.4 mm thickness.
Mantek in the UK sells them as does Supatech but they probably have minimum orders of 20 pounds or so, you could buy a bunch and sell them here.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Bill. My local supplier in Cardiff is Sealmasters who do not have a minimum order value, at least for walk-in buyers.

If you change from the silicone to buna-n (nitrile) make sure that you lube the o-rings a bit more than you would the Inon versions. The reason that the housing and strobe guys use the silicone rubber o-rings is that they mostly never need lubing while nitrile will need the occasional lube to stay soft enough to work well.

Thanks for that Bill.
However I have found that the 'OEM' yellow o-rings have a tendency to bind and distort if not given a 'gloss' of lube... On battery change I usually drop them into a zip-lock with a smear of lube and rub them around. I also put a very light 'suggestion' of lube of the contact surface of the battery cover.

I am with you in that I lightly lube them. My real point was that the OEM housing guys and Inon to an extent try to make them so that if you don't ever lube them they will still work (not optimally of course, but still seal).
