Flat fish with head in center?

  1. Hello,

My friend found this fish off Alona Beach, Bohol, Philippines. He said it scuttled around and it seems like the head is in the middle of the body.

Is this some type of sole or flounder? I think I read that when juvenile, their eyes move to one side.

  2. Its an Elbow Crab, possibly a Rear-Spined Elbow Crab, Aulacolambrus hoplonotus.

Flounders and Soles begin life swimming upright with an eye on each side, as they settle to a life on the bottom one eye migrates

through to the top side of the body.

    Cheers,

    Jim.
