Dive operator in Timor

  1. Hi,

does anyone know any contacts, resorts and whats the diving highlights in Timor?

We are planning to go in September 2011, and looking for diving exploration in Timor with a few friends.

We are not bothered with fancy accommodation, just want a good operator who can show us the best of Timor diving!

    thanks

    bonnie

  2. try Dive Timor Lorosae. They have nice accomodation too.

AFAIK, This is the only one dive op in Timor.

  3. Next November I will be doing an exploratory trip for a month going from West Papua...island hopping and ending up in Timor. Too bad the trip is full.....

  4. I travel to Timor Leste regularly, but unfortunately have yet to get in the water there! However I have noticed in Dili at least one other dive operator now active (Free Flow or something like that) which shouldn't be too hard to track down

As for accommodation, the hotels in Dili are nothing to write home about through some of the smaller places along the esplanade have a nice family feel to them. Personally I would try to get out to Atauro island for a more rustic and relaxing experience. There is a ferry several times a week

I also noticed that there was an UW photo competition held there last year that got some web exposure, perhaps there are some ideas for dive sites to target through that link

  5. thanks guys, I think timor lorosae is promising, I had a quick look they can do safari which is great for exploration. the accommodation looks good enough considering how remote they are.

mm. i think hard of how long do we need to stay there. is one week enough?
