How to sell a housing internationally

  1. I have a housing package I want to sell here in seattle washington.

I have a buyer on the forum in South africa who wants to buy it.

Short of me flying over there ( which actually sounds like an awesome idea), What is the best way to sell it?

Paypal works fine. I have sold a number of housings and cameras to folks overseas. Make sure that the guy buying it understands that he will be on the hook for all taxes/duties etc and that you will be upfront about the actual price. Often I get a request that I undervalue the deal for customs purposes but since I want insurance on the package I tell them sorry.

  3. Don't use Western Union

Use a service like paypal (free to setup, fee's aren't bad and anyone can sign up)

Make sure the funds clear first and then send the package.

If someone says "but i can't sign up for paypal" or "I dont know how" then run away. Sorry, someone who has a few grand of disposable income can figure out paypal. It's not hard...or they can have their kid/neighbor/friend/etc do it for them.

Once you ship the item, it's lost to you.

Make sure you get it insured, btw...totally worth it. If your buyer claims they never got it then the insurance pays for it.
