  4. Steve I see you are 3 years older then I, made my day. Happy birthday, hope you got THE spermwhale picture

Glad we're both having a good day partner. :) My new friend Jose got the image of the year, guessing you'll see it in future competitions, but just to prove I'm not out playing golf; Tokina 10-17 @ 10mm. Color is probably off a little, I'm on an uncalibrated screen down here. Taken under permit.

As Tim has said, the best images are the ones we keep in our minds. I had three whales headed straight at me (it feels a little like standing in front of a moving train) and they decided to dive. Their 3 huge tails went vertical right in front of me blocking out the sky. Many other images like that this week.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes folks.

    Cheers,

    Steve

    For the official birthday celebration we did a dive at Dangling Ben's Pinnacles, Scott's Head. (you have to wonder who makes up these names). Had a nice relaxing dive with my bride. Good times;

    Steve,

The dive sites name came from a British Captain who was found beheaded at that site. His body was discovered and his head was not.

Was Scar around for you to play with?

  15. Was Scar around for you to play with?

    Hi Elmer,

Sadly Scar was not in residence, at least not in the part on the ocean we were in. Some think he may have changed his behavior as he's gotten older. I think Izzy has some pictures of an animal that looks a lot like Scar but didn't stop to interact. Conjecture at this point.

    Cheers,

    Steve

  16. Well a big happy birthday Steve. With 43 years of diving, I thought you might want to join the older than dirt club. I only have 36 years of diving, but I am older than you. I guess you young puppies will have wait a while. OBTW, I saw Stan Waterman at OWUW this year. He will be 88 next month and still can get in a dive a day. May we all be so blessed.

    Bob

P.S. My bride & I will be in Dominica this November. Please post a trip report.

  17. Hi Bob,

I'm hearing that Jeff (Loftus) who lead the trip is putting together a report that I'll be happy to chime in on. If we can get him out of the pool, I'm sure it's coming soon. I'm really interested to see the images that the team on the second week got of the whales.

    Cheers

    Steve
