Sealux housing service,help needed

  1. Hi dear all,

I need some help. I purchased a Sealux video housing last year november. Since the monitor was malfunctioned (the second time) , I send the video housing back to Sealux for service again.

The first time service was quick and smooth. Unfortunate, the second time was a bit disappointed because the package that I return for service is still now locate at Kempten post office. For the reason of unsuccessful delivery. The package address is the same as the first postage.

The package was posted from Hong Kong on 23 Feb, arrive Kempten on 25 Feb 2011.I have filed the package with invoice, mention that the item is return for service.

On 9 March 2011, Sealux replied me with that "we must declair the goods by custom we wait for invoice and custom paper"

Since then, I have'nt received any respond from Sealux ,even after 2 seperate email enquiry on 9 March, 22 March.

I have contacted Hong Kong post office today to find out the reason of unsuccessful delivery and we are now waiting for the reply from Kempten post office.

Meanwhile, I hope someone , or from Sealux ,can tell me what is going on with my package ? Am I missing some document for the custom clearing procedure ?

How long should it take for clearing the custome normally?

Should Sealux update my current situation ? Or should I keep sending them email enquiry which I think a bit annoying ?

Any comments are welcome. Thank you very much for all your advice in advance!!!

  2. Hi everyone, just received a reply from Hong Kong post office, the housing was now retained at the custom, waiting for clearing of custom from the receiver (Sealux).

But I still haven't got any respond from Sealux.

    Thank you.

From my experience dealing with German manufacturers, they don't seem to like dealing with Customs. In fact, another German brand refused to accept my box because they would've had to pay like in duty (which I said I would pay for) and cost me a total about $600 to send it back to me to resend again. In fact they no longer accept non EU international FEDEX or UPS packages anymore due to the customs processing fee of It's one of my biggest pet peeves about buying anything from Germany, in case I have to send it back.

I had to send something back last year and to avoid being held at German Customs, I was told the declared value MUST BE LESS than €22, otherwise they would not deal with customs on my behalf. Not sure what Sealux's policy is but judging from the response they gave you, they are waiting for German Customs to send them a notice to collect, which bureaucracy may take a few weeks to arrive. Sorry I don't have better news.

I'm going to put this in the general forum.

  4. Hi Drew,

First of all, it is very nice of you to reply my concern. Thank you.

I think Sealux must have their good reason to let my box sitting at the custom. I just hope Sealux can give me some update, like a simple reminder that how long I might expect for the video housing to be fixed and return. Since I brought the housing, the monitor back only work for 6 dives in two seperate dive trip. One at Baja California, one at Cebu. See how frustrated am I !

It will be a pity if I bring it to shoot the Saridine Run with a fail monitor again in the coming July. I really need to bring the housing for a field test before the trip.

Meanwhile, all I can do is seat and wait.

  5. Well, the Deutsche Post isn't that incompetent that they haven't sent a notice out yet. You are at the mercy of Sealux since they have to make an effort to go deal with customs instead of just signing for a package at the office. Perhaps if you offer to pay for their transport or something? It's ridiculous to have to even do that, but you can slam them after they fixe your housing! :)
