EX1 Peaking Function

  1. Sony EX1 - The Peaking function which is available through the viewfinder and internal monitor is not available to an external monitor using the Component output socket. Does anybody know if it is possible or has anybody managed to activate this function at this output?

Peaking is a function and feature of the monitor to analyze the video stream. It's not something output by the camera.

  3. Probably not that essential underwater either as it's harder to get U/W footage on a video camera out of focus rather than in.

That really depends on how bad your eyes are and how much you fiddle with focus! :)

I heard the more you fiddle the worse your eyes get or is that an old wives tale :)

Are you saying that if the external monitor had a peaking facility it would be abler to analyze the video stream received through the component output?

  7. I think what John is saying is that the Peaking output from the camera does not show in any output. Peaking works by finding the sharpest edges on an image at the monitor feed and not in sensor. Hence it isn't "outputable."

Now if you house certain monitors with Peaking functions built in, then you'll have Peaking. I know Marshall has a few monitors with built-in Peaking.
