  1. 148 people died yesterday when an Air Egypt flight to Paris got into difficulty just after take off from Ras Nasrani airport, Sharm el Sheikh.

The captain tried to return to the airport but crashed into the sea killing all onboard.

This raises more questions about correct maintenance procedures on Boeing 737 aircraft used by Egypt Air.

  2. The airlne was Flash Airlines http://www.flashtour.com/airline.htm they are a charter aviation company.

They have or to be exact had 2 Boeing 737-300, both aircrafts were manufactured in 1993.

  3. That's independent TV news for you!

I was on an Egypt air 737 in 1995 that encountered problems due to the wrong replacement parts being fitted resulting in limited rudder operation... Not nice!

  4. Tragic none the less.

  5. My Entire experience with Egyptian airlines is 20 minutes of Sharm el Sheikh - Horgada flight and it went OK.

I'd rather anyway fly with a western airline than with an Egyptian or former Soviete one.

But for us it is 2.5-3 hours in a bus To Sharm from Eilat so we don't need to fly and we can dive in the last day of vacation.

And the lost is very tragic concidering the number of chieldren onboard.

  6. Yes very tragic but i fear we will see such things more often with this kind of airlines.

A dive Buddy of mine flew with them 2 month ago to HRG (he says it was the same machine) and told me the condition the plane was in was horrible.

Yesterday in german TV a guy from the swiss air traffic control authority said, that this airline lost their landing and overflying rights for switzerland since two years ago for repeatedly not meeting the standards at technical inspections.
